FOREIGN OFFICE

S.W.1.

26th March, 1936

Sir,

C. O. REG!

I am directed by Mr. Secretary Eden to transmit

herewith, for the information of the Secretary of State for

the Colonies, a copy of a despatch from His Majesty's

Ambassador at Peking regarding the question of company

legislation in China.

2.

Subject to the concurrence of the Departments

concerned, Mr. Eden considers that the questions arising

out of this despatch might most conveniently. be discussed

at an interdepartmental meeting. I am accordingly to

propose that when the matter has been considered Mr.

Secretary Thomas should inform Mr. Eden of his readiness

to send a representative, in order that the necessary

arrangements may be made. It is suggested that the meeting

might take place at this Department.

3.

A similar letter is being addressed to the

Board of Trade.

I am,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

Gw. Orde

The Under-Secretary of State,

Colonial office.
